I see the question of how popular male chastity actually is coming up in online forums quite often. While there’s no way to compile accurate statistics on the popularity of male chastity aside from sales figures of chastity devices and books or search traffic online, those metrics can’t truly convey how many people are actually practicing male chastity. In this post, I’ll attempt to break down some of my own observations in order to get a better sense of how popular male chastity is.
How I Discovered Male Chastity
I never knew that male chastity was even a kink until the last few years when I discovered it online. However, I realized that it was a strong fetish for me going as far back as ten or fifteen years. I remember suggesting to a girlfriend about fifteen years ago that I wear only a thong and be forbidden from orgasm while I satisfy her by giving her oral whenever she desires. With another girlfriend a few years later, I suggested something similar, and she responded by suggesting that I not orgasm for the next three months. I had no idea how I could wait that long, but if I had known about chastity cages back then, I would have suggested it in a second. Both girlfriends were quite enthusiastic about denying me my orgasms in favor of me focusing only on their needs.
Fast forward to several years ago and a quick online search yielded many results for male chastity. It didn’t take long before my searches connected me with chastity cages for sale and various books on the topic of male chastity. This seems to indicate a growing market for devices and writing related to the topic. I didn’t even know that my fetish was called male chastity until the market expanded sufficiently to warrant websites and products dedicated to the topic.
Growing Online Presence
As I mentioned before, back when I began to explore the idea of male chastity, there was very little online about it. This seemed to grow exponentially over the past several years. It’s now quite easy to find chastity cages for sale on Amazon, websites devoted to the topic of male chastity, along with “how-to” books and novels on male chastity. And with the release of Fifty Shades of Grey and the recent Cell Mate remote controlled chastity cage hack, the general public is now at least aware of what a chastity cage is.
This would seem to indicate that male chastity is at least growing in popularity or that more and more people are becoming aware of it. As with other kinks, the more people who are aware of it lends some acceptance, which means that more people are likely to try it.
Increasing Open Mindedness
Now that the general public is becoming increasingly open minded about all aspects of sex, my sense is that most people are much more open to new kinks and fetishes than they once were. It used to be that to explore any kink or fetish, you either had to be interested in it yourself, visit a sex shop or club in person, or know people involved with various kinks. Now, those resources are just a click away online.
Summary
There’s really no way to know for sure whether male chastity is actually becoming more popular, or to what degree it’s becoming more popular. Even surveys would be flawed since most people who would answer them would already have an interest in male chastity. That said, I highly doubt that there would be so many online vendors, blogs, and books for male chastity if it weren’t becoming more popular every day.
