Popularity of Men’s Thong Underwear

I can still remember when I first began seeing thong underwear. I thought it was the sexiest thing I had ever seen. Even though at the time, I only ever saw women wearing thong underwear, I found myself wanting to wear a thong too. I searched far and wide to find men’s thong underwear and once I found some, I couldn’t wait to wear them. Putting them on for the first time, I felt incredibly sexy, if not a bit self conscious. After all, I had never heard of any other men wearing thong underwear except for strippers or perhaps as a joke. That said, I was determined to make men’s thong underwear work.

Over the years, I would wear thongs on occasion, and even went through several periods when I wore them almost exclusively. Usually, when I wore thong underwear for a girlfriend, the response was overwhelmingly positive. Yet still, I never seemed to see other guys wearing thongs. If women really disliked men in thongs that much, why did the women I was with seem to enjoy seeing me in a thong as much as they did? I even had a girlfriend who nearly jumped me the first time she saw me in a thong, and whenever I didn’t wear a thong when we were together, she’d pull out one of her thong panties and ask me to wear it! 

Fast forward to present times and my wife loves seeing me in thong underwear, which I wear nearly every day. I probably own about 50-60 pairs of men’s thong underwear and my wife loves that every day, I pick out a new thong to wear for her viewing pleasure. She loves admiring my body as I walk around the house clad only in a thong, and I love feeling sexy for her.

Given the positive responses I’ve had from women when seeing me in a thong, I have to wonder how popular men’s thong underwear actually is.

How Popular Is Men’s Thong Underwear?

To be perfectly honest, there’s not a lot of information to go on to assess the popularity of men’s thong underwear. I’ve seen posts that Google searches for men’s thong underwear have been trending up, but that only tells you the popularity of Google searches for men’s thong underwear, and not how many people are actually purchasing and wearing thongs.

However, one thing I’ve noticed is that in recent years, there are more and more online vendors of men’s thong underwear, and even online stores which sell almost exclusively men’s thongs. I find it difficult to imagine that a company would go to the trouble and expense to manufacture and sell a product for which there was little to no demand, and if the availability of men’s thongs online is any barometer, it would seem that men’s thong underwear has actually been gaining in popularity quite significantly.

Men rarely discuss underwear choices with each other anyway, so it’s no surprise that the topic of thong underwear for men would ever come up. And given the taboo around men’s thong underwear (and to some people, around thong underwear in general), one might expect the discussion of men’s thongs to be minimal. Most women publicly will talk about the “ick” factor of a man in a thong, but secretly might actually enjoy seeing her partner sporting a skimpy brief with a piece of fabric wedged between his butt cheeks.

I don’t know if it’s the association with women’s undergarments that leads many to write off the men’s thong or if it’s the assumption that wearing a thong implies something about one’s sexuality, but it doesn’t appear that men’s thongs have yet to go mainstream. That said, they do seem more prevalent in gay circles, where men have long been more comfortable with stylish undergarments. I have to also wonder if the greater popularity of men’s thongs within gay circles is that in general, many gay men tend to take better care of their bodies than straight men, thus leading them to feel more comfortable wearing a thong. I have very few straight male friends for whom it would be advisable to wear a thong, so perhaps it has something to do with this. 

From personal experience, nearly every woman I’ve been in a relationship with over the years has loved seeing me in a thong. I’ve never had any negative reactions, and almost all the reactions were delight and pleasure. And as I mentioned earlier, I had a girlfriend who went absolutely crazy the first time she saw me in a thong. She practically ripped my pants off of my body, turned me on the bed face down, and began to run her tongue between my butt cheeks uncontrollably.

Why Wear Men’s Thong Underwear?

Many men (and women) might ask this. Not because they can point to anything specifically wrong with it, but because they’re just not accustomed to seeing men in thongs. My physique is athletic and muscular, and my wife loves how my thong underwear shows off my muscles and curves. If I didn’t take care of myself, I wouldn’t feel anywhere near as confident wearing it. 

One of the major reasons why I wear thongs is that they feel and look incredibly sexy. I love the feeling of the fabric nestled between my butt cheeks, and the exposed butt feels wonderful against the fabric of my trousers. And knowing that my wife loves me in a thong, it’s all the more incentive to wear them. Also, the underwear choices among more traditional styles of men’s underwear such as boxer briefs is quite boring. With men’s thong underwear, there’s an endless array of styles and colors. It’s nice to be able to have some fun when picking out my undergarments.

Now that I’ve been wearing men’s thong underwear every day for quite some time, I’ve observed that it’s actually incredibly comfortable! Many people who haven’t worn thong underwear seem to be curious about the strip of fabric running between the butt cheeks, but on a well fitting thong, that part is barely noticeable, if at all. For men, thong underwear provides considerably more support for your package, and for anyone who wears a thong, they provide much more freedom of movement. I feel free and unencumbered when I’m wearing a thong.
